One of the many reasons I need to get rich…

…is that I can be seriously anti-social, and it’s getting to the point that I hate going to the movies. It was my understanding that movie-going was supposed to be semi-antisocial & non-participatory unless the movie in question involves a certain sweet transvestite from Transylvania…

Take heed: I’m going to go into cranky old person mode.

We went and saw 28 Weeks Later, and I was just amazed- no, not at the gore, or the sex (zombies don’t go in for that sorta thing, thank god), or even at the camera shots designed to literally shake you up.

No, what was shocking was the audience- but you saw that coming, no? First off, a solid 20% of the audience was under 16- and I’d guess 10% under 12 and WITH AUTHORITY FIGURES.

What I wanna know is what reasonable person looks at the below trailer and decides that yes, you know what? My kid has been getting ENTIRELY too much sleep lately. It’s time to throw ‘em for a loop and give ‘em something to bitch to their therapists about in the years to come!

So naturally, there was crying, screaming, parents telling the kids to shut up, etc etc. This has made me decide that when I hit the lottery (though it would help if I actually played once in a while), I will have my own movie-viewing room where you’ll be welcome to come see first-run movies, but beware: house rules apply & are subject to change based on whim and amount of wine consumed pre-show.
