The first annual Poboy fest was today, and we definitely got the idea that they weren’t sure what kind of a reception they’d get. Many of the vendors were surprised- Galatoire’s
was there (who knew they had anything so base as a poboy?) and ran out after only 2 and a half hours.
They opened at 12 and by the time we arrived at 4, about half the companies were plum out, but, all neighborhood loyalties aside, we did decide that Drago’s roast beef kicked Parasol’s butt.
The fest was organized to highlight our local sandwich of choice, what with the massive influx of Quizno’s and Subways. A dozen or more local shops brought their variants, plus lots of artists of all types. Christopher Kirsch of the SkeletonKrewe was my favorite:
