Many thanks to Adrastos for bringing this to my attention- the (trained) driver is his neighbor, and the reporter is a local staple. He’s kind of a grump, but I often identify with him- he sort of scowls in this “can you believe they’re pulling this crap?” sort of way.

I much prefer that style than (as my fellow grump Don Henley put it) the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five who can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye.

I'm Tess Conrad, Yankee gone native in New Orleans. After dozens visits to research and write about NO's history I figured it'd be cheaper to just move, and in 2002 we did just that.

The blog was started as a companion to my New Orleans-themed shop (now closed), and give visitors a glimpse into life here. I'm keeping the blog here, even though I haven't been as good at updating it as I ought to be.
