Float Recycling

Every Krewe has at least a few floats that they reuse every year and they become emblems of the parade, but some groups reuse most or all of their designs every year- Rex is one of those.

Rex is the King of Mardi Gras- he arrives on Monday (Lundi Gras) and rules the day along with the King of Zulu. Rex is also the oldest parading krewe and still a secret society- the bluest of blue bloods. If you ain’t born into it, you likely ain’t gettin’ in, honey.

Their floats are beautifully done, the colors amazing, but personally, I prefer the groups that change every year- waiting to see what Chaos or D’Etat’s sarcastic themes are is a little more fun than, ‘Oh, there’s the dragon again.’

Plus I’m more of a ‘down and dirty’ than ‘high and mighty’ type. But that’s just me. They’re still beautiful and great to admire. :)
