Political floats shelf life

There are several very sarcastic, topical Krewes, and they’re consistently my favs- Chaos, D’Etat, Tucks (somewhat, sometimes), and of course, my very own beloved Muses.

I don’t know how they manage it, since what is edgy and fresh while designing at the beginning of the year is long forgotten 12 months later. I suspect they leave several floats blank in the beginning, adding themes throughout the year as news pops.

Here’s one from last year’s Muses float viewing party. It was less than a month before the parade and there were still much to be finished on the floats- it was obvious they were going to be working right up to the last second.

So this is the Vitter/Jindal float. They’re both very conservative, and last year’s theme was SuperMuses- all things superheroes.

The side reads things like “Men in tights saving the world from men in tights,” and suchlike.

And now, a year later, VitterMan is a prostitute-patronizing, diaper-wearing disgrace and JindalBoy is the governor. Go figure.
