I don’t have family buried in here New Orleans, so there aren’t any tombs to be whitewashed and such for me, but I’ve always really admired that sense of family living beyond the now.
So I set out to see the celebration of All Saint’s Day, when people go en famile to clean, tend and generally hang out with each other and those who went before.
Unfortunately, it seems like the tradition has died out somewhat with the newer generations. I saw no picnics and nearly no kids running around on this beautiful day.
I did, however get some nice photos…and although I’ve always found this setup interesting, I don’t think I ever photographed it:
