Okay, so Gustav and Ike have both moved on, and while we keep our eye on the tropics and Texas in our minds, I want to pass something along that Charlie wrote in the 24 hours following Gustav.

Ah, the good old days of stripping. I guess.

I was a little surprised to find these in one of the boxes- there are a couple, but this one I particularly like. None of them show a whole lot of bosom (or much else, though a great gam counted in those days, I suppose), but they’ve sure got style.

Not to mention an odd audience- lots and lots of old ladies, primly sitting with their pocketbooks on their laps, thoughtfully considering the girl on stage.

And everybody in suits, dresses and hats- the one young guy at the bar in his tee shirt and rapt expression seems to sum up the changing social tide. He clearly wants to see her take it off…the oldsters are there for the show, not some silly titillation.

After all, there are props! Costumes! Production values! An entire chicken coup was slaughtered to make her outfit! This is an experience, not a common dive!

Or so they’ve convinced their wives.
